~ A pair of c1840 percussion boxlock overcoat pistols by Westley Richards with concealed triggers and safety catches ~
The pair have turn-off octagonal barrel and the triggers deploy on full cock.
Both the lockplate and the top flat of the barrel are stamped with the original makers name, Westley Richards.
The lockplates are engraved to both sides with battle standards, shields and drums. The muzzle has also been decorated with a band of foliage. The hammers are engraved too with fish scales.
The butts are made from checkered walnut with engraved pommels.
~ Dimension ~
They have a barrel length of 2.5 inches (6.5cm) and an overall length of 7.5 inches (19cm). The set weighs 0.63kg.
~ Condition ~
There is some age wear to the metal but the pistol remains in an overall good original condition. The wood shows no sign of chipping. The movement is still in good working order at cock, half cock and release. The barrels unscrew with ease.
