~ Rare Spanish Civil War German Manufactured M35 Badged Steel Helmet ~
These ‘Model 1935’ helmets were supplied to general’s Franco army in the Spanish civil war. This is a rare piece as at the time it was made for export only. The German army was supplied with them much later.
The helmets were also used by the Condor Legion, a unit composed of volunteers from the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) and from the German Army (Wehrmacht Heer) which served with the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War of July 1936 to March 1939.
A particular aspect with these helmets is that they’ve never had batch numbers stamped into the shell. Once received by the Spanish the helmets were fitted with the brass and red cross Spanish eagle badge.
The helmet has the early 1936 dated aluminium liner and nickel plated brass liner split pins.
The chinstrap appears to be Spanish.
The helmet was purchased by the previous owner in Berlin in 1995.
The helmet is complete with its brown leather lining.
The slot for the slide off badge is of the correct proportions.
The liner is marked 64/57.
