~ A Rare Early Victorian Royal Navy Sabre in the 1827 Pattern by Moore ~

The sword is marked on the ricasso 'MOORE, Late Bicknell & MOORE, 1 OLD BOND ST., LONDON'.

with the Royal Arms on the other side.

It has an etched pipe-back blade with the queens crown above a fouled anchor on one side and the Royal Coat of Arms on the reverse.

The gilt-brass half-basket guard is bears a crowned fouled anchor within a cartouche. Also a folding inner-flap can be observed at the base of the basket along with a wire-bound white rayskin-covered grip and gilt-brass lion's head pommel.

On the black leather scabbard are the mounted gilt-brass fittings. Unfortunately the locket is missing.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The blade length is 29 inches (73.6 cm) and the overall length of the sword is 34 inches (86.4 cm).

The scabbard length is 29.5 inches (75 cm).

    ~ Condition ~

The blade is in decent condition for its age. There are several spots of corrosion on the blade. The right side of the ricasso is worn. The hilt and basket are in excellent condition.

The scabbard is in poorer shape. The leather is old and corroded but is still intact without tears. It is unstitched.

The remaining brass fittings still preserve their finish and normal shape.

    ~ Postage ~

UK postage is £18 or the sword can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth
    Historic Dockyard.
