RARE VICTORIAN / WW1 BRITISH MILITARY FOLDING TWO BLADE LOCK KNIFE BUT VERY RARE AMERICAN MADE KNIFE !!!! MAKER EC SIMMONS ST LOUIS USA
Overall "been there" condition with a repair to the staghorn grips near one of the ferrules and although both blades open and close fine probably dont have quite as strong a snap as they once had probably through repeated usage otherwise overall reasonably good / good condition especially considering its age and usage.
The identical pattern of knife is shown on page 136 of Ron Flooks excellent book "BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES" "... packed in some of the gift boxes given to Soldiers in WW1" although this pattern of knife is also typical of those used by the British Army in the Victorian / WW1era
Has the " E C SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER ST LOUIS ... stamped on the military spear point can opener blade, This is a very rare variation ...would say that it was possibly made for the WW1 Canadian Expeditionary Force or possibly for the American Army when they entered WW1 in April 1917
Typically Victorian / WW1 era british military folding two blade knife with a spear point blade about 8.1 cm long can opener blade about 4.2 cm long...and the classic British Military Copper Shackle for this pattern of knife
