This is an original WW2 1945 U.S.A.F Type a-4 Fighter pilots' 'Grip' type Parachute pack. The pack measues 23x 8 x 6 inches This type of parachute was carried onto aircraft by Fighter Pilots. The Pack is without parachute but nicely padded out for display. The pack has no damage at all and all stitching is intact. The pack is complete with webbing 'grips', metal fittings, steel wire cord and elasticated cord supports. The pack is nicely labelled ' Type A-4 Parachute, Government Serial number A.A.FM Mfg 186811 Contract number W33-038-AC-3610, Dwg No. 4439221 and with the manufacturer's name, Reliance Manufacturing Co. The pack is also ink stamped 43J26406-1 (24 FT.Diam) with date Mar 24 1945. The front of the pack has a distinctive bright yellow original label with ink stamped number - 319.
