~ Remington US Model 1917 Bayonet with scabbard and frog ~
This is a World War One vintage Model 1917 manufactured by Remingtion Arms of Ilion. NY. This one has the early type scabbard with the leather frog riveted to the body of the scabbard.
The blade has a 2 toned finish and is dated 1917 with the Remington Logo inside a circle. The opposite side of the iblade is marked "U.S." with a flaming ordnance bomb and an inspector's symbol with an eagle head #17.
There are two twin grooves in the hilt to indicate that this is a M1917 bayonet for the M1917 Enfield rifle only so soldiers would not confuse it with the M1905 for the Springfield.
