An original C1916 WW1 Royal Flying Corps wrist compass and leather strap. The body of the compass is blackened brass and it has two sets of brackets soldered on each side for the leather strap. The body is in good original condition. The top rim of the compass is stamped with "Patt 261" and "No 75oB/55". It has a brass bracket on the top with sighting marks and a glass prism to show the compass heading. The compass card spins freely and is gimballed in fluid. The card is black with white luminescent compass markings. The lenses is clear and undamaged, giving a clear view of the compass card. The underside of the lenses has a white North arrow in luminescent paint. The compass measures 2 3/4" in diameter and is 1 1/4" thick. The brown leather strap is original and has a brass buckle. It is long enough to go round a flying suit arm. This is a very scarce item from the RFC/RNAS. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 13254
