This is a great condition, 1942 dated, 'Lend Lease' Savage Stevens, Long Branch .303 calibre S.M.L.E. No.4 MK I* rifle. These rifles were manufactured under the terms of the 'lend-lease' agreement during WW2. The MK I designation was changed to MK I* in 1942 after modifications to the bolt housing. The rifle is complete with an original webbing sling and it is nicely stamped 'No 4 MK I* on the left side of the frame. It is also stamped with additional marking ' US Property' on top of the breech. The grip strap is stamped with number '16C8404' together with '1942' date, Savage Stevens 'S' mark and Frankford Arsenal ignited grenade legend.
