This type of sword was carried during the period circa 1680-1790 and is documented as being the type carried at the battle of Culloden in 1746. The Steel guard made of various engraved and pierced panels & bars. The piercing in the shape of hearts and circles. The 31 inch blade is in very good condition and has two wide fullers running almost full length. Overall length 37 inches. The grip of wood covered with sharkskin and bound with wire. A good honest untouched piece, this type of sword was also carried during the American Revolutionary war era c.1765-1783. Ref 8911.
