This is a scarce early First Model Springfield 1873 Rifle.I bought this from Collectors Firearms in Texas some years ago and had it imported into the UK.
There are no splits in any of the wood and the barrel is in good condition with no rust.
It carries all the usual markings,as can be seen from the photographs as well as the name L. Ewell in a stamp on the butt which could be the soldier it was originally issued to.
This is a great scare collectors piece but I am now in a small bungalow and have no space to display it,as anyone who chooses to collect it in person after cleared payment or cash payment will see.
I contacted G.M.P. FIREARMS SECTION ABOUT THIS RIFLE BEFORE I BOUGHT IT AND WAS TOLD BY THEM THAT AS AN ANTIQUE,NO FIREARMS LICENCE IS REQUIRED,IT WAS IMPORTED FROM TEXAS AND CLEARED CUSTOMS AT MANCHESTER AIRPORT WITH NO PROBLEM,I HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION FOR IT.
