Just over 21,000 of these were produced between 1863 and 1863 for use by Union forces in the early years of the American Civil War.
This one has a serial number of 1177, just forward of the trigger guard, makes this a very early example.
The frame of the gun is stamped on both sides... STARR'S PATENT JAN.15.1856
~ Condition ~
The nipples all look to be in good order and the chamber indexes well.
The metal works bluing has darkened with age and developed a deep brown patina.
There is some very minor surface pitting, most noticeable on the chamber.
The underslung ramrod deploys smoothly.
The woodwork is smooth and clean with only minor surface wear.
The revolver indexes and releases.

The revolver measures 12 inches (30.5cm) long with the barrel measuring 6 inches (15cm). It weighs 2.72kg.
