Description

~ Third Reich NSKK Officer Dagger ~

Here is a ceremonial dagger belonging to a high ranking member of the NSKK, the Third Reich equivalent to the British Automobile Association, originally started as a training program for party members interested in mechanics and later the official organization.

This dagger is of the standard construction with an almost untouched tang nut and beautiful fittings on the handle, the nickel plate on the guard and the pommel are still complete with no base metal showing through. The wood which appears to be European walnut still has a very nice dark finish and has both the Reich eagle and the SA plaque.

The scabbard is of solid metal construction with nickel plated fittings (again in quite good condition), the black painted scabbard has some wear to the paint but is still sturdy with all fittings and screws firmly in place.

The blade is in very good condition with no edge damage, very clear and well marked ‘Alles Fur Deutschland’ engraving and Solingen makers mark for Herman Linder, a very rare find as you don’t see many of his blades surviving.

What makes this especially nice is the belt hanger. The chain is made from solid nickel links all bearing various Nazi symbols, the eagle, the swastika and also a rune. The clasp on the hanger has an acorn and two oak leaves. The back of the clasp is marked ‘MUSTERSCHUTZ NSKK-KORPSFUHRUNG’.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 8.5 inches (22 cm).

The dagger is 13.25 inches (33.5 cm).

The dagger in its sheath measures 14.5 inches (37 cm).

~ Condition ~

The daggers condition is really good considering the rarity of the item and the age.

The sheath has some wear on the paint where the base metal is showing through. Also there is minor wear on the nickel plating of the sheath.

There is some aging to the nickel chain to be expected and there are some minor cosmetic scratches to the wooden handle.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £15, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
