Thomas Blissett Of Liverpool English 6 Shot, .38" Bore, Iron Framed Bar Hammer Pepper Box, Percussion Pistol .38 Muzzleloader
C1860, English 6 Shot, .38" Bore, Iron Framed Bar Hammer Pepper Box, Percussion Pistol With Fluted Cylinder By Thomas Blissett Of Liverpool. Sn 11490 - 11490 The revolving pepper box multi shot percussion pistol was produced from the late 1820s and was meant mainly for civilian use. The design of these pistols which were made by a large number of manufacturer's in different calibres & barrel lengths spread rapidly in the United Kingdom, the USA and some parts of Continental Europe. Thomas Blissett was an English Gunsmith with premises at 38 South castle Street and 11 Water Street, Liverpool between 1834 and 1870 (see page 174 of Brown’s book British Gunmakers Vol 2). This is an excellent 6 shot .38" bore, pepperbox percussion pistol made by Blissett. It measures 9 1/2" overall. It has a bar hammer action and has even patina throughout. The frame has foliate engraving and is marked on the left side of the action ‘Blissett Liverpool’. The barrel has proof marks. The firing action works as it should. The pistol has attractive Walnut grips. Price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. Sn 11490 £895.00
