    Thomas Cartmell was a Doncaster based Gunsmith with premises at the High Street, Doncaster, between - Phone number removed - On 6th November 1824 Cartmell received a British patent no. 5033 for a pill-lock self priming mechanism, the magazine being located in the head of the hammer. This is a fine pair of Yeomanry Officer's Private purchase flintlock holster pistols by Cartmell. The pistols are .65" Bore Musket Bore, with 9" octagonal steel barrels, original steel captive ram-rods with brass caps and Walnut one piece stocks with chequered grips & steel furniture. The barrels have platignum lines and plugs at their breeches. The locks are engraved with 'sunburst' designs and with the maker's name 'Cartmell'. The tops of the barrels are marked 'Doncaster'. The hammers and trigger guards with acanthus bud finials are decorated with Foliate and Martial Trophy designs. The tops of both grips are inlaid with Silver escutcheons nicely engraved with stylised 'AG' monograms. The pisol's are fitted with sliding safety catches and their actions are nice and strong. The price for this quality pair of Yeomanry Officer's holster pistols in fine original condition includes UK delivery. NB As antique flintlock pistols no licence is required to possess them in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 8872
