Manufactured in the mid 19th Century these famous Percussion revolvers were sold mainly in the USA as well as being retailed by the Colt Depot in Pall Mall, London, England. This is one of the US manufactured Colt Navies that were purchased by the American Government and issued to Union forces during the American Civil War 1861-1865. Engraved on the top of barrel with the words "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY ". Good working order. Action very crisp and locks up tight. The cylinder, frame and barrel are stamped with different serial numbers as is quite normal to find on one of the U.S. Government issued pistols. Being used in the heat of battle and taken apart and then re-assembled many times it was quite normal for the parts from one Navy revolver to get inter-changed with those from another Navy revolver. In fact that was one of the reasons that Samuel Colt was able to sell his weapons in such large quantity to the US military, because they understood only too well that to be able to be completely inter-changeable was a massive help to the US soldier in the field. Overall length approx 14 inches. Circa 1851-1860. This is a nice example of a rare US marked Colt 1851 Navy pistol. Ref 8062.This is an antique weapon and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
