~ A Victorian (1846 Pattern) Junior Naval Officer's Sword ~
This is a rarer variant of the standard 1846 for officer cadets etc., first one I have had. Note the plain blade and the lions head pommel being absent, use a doves head pattern instead.
The sword has a plain single edge fullered steel blade
faintly etched with the maker's name
'C J Lake, Stonehouse, Plymouth'.
The brass Gothic hilt is cast with a fouled anchor, hinged guard, wire bound black fish skin grip and dove head pommel.
It comes with its brass mounted, black leather scabbard.
~ Dimensions ~
The total length of the sword is 35.5 inches (90cm) with the blade measuring 30 inches (76cm).
The scabbard has length of 30.75 inches (78cm).
~ Condition ~
The overall condition is good. The scabbard is slightly worn and has some wear to the leather. The blade is in good order. The inner dimple on the catch is absent.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £18 or can be picked up from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
