VINTAGE MILITARY MK 5 PATTERN GURKHA KUKRI WITH SHEATH & BELT FROG & CHAKMAKS CAMPANION KNIVES.
Overall reasonably nice / nice condition.
A nice quality kukri with a very shallow but clearly noticeable double fuller blade and a full tang through the handle peaned at the brass pommel.
These are very similar to the current issue MK 5 Horn Handle British Army Issue Kukri but apparently these date from the 1950's and predated the horn hilted MK5 Military Kukris having a wooden handle. That is according to some internet blogs but if anyone has more info please email.
The blade and indeed the whole kukri is in overall nice condition. The chakmaks have also cleaned blades with some areas of rust staining and light pitting. The sheath is missing the metal chape at the end. As the kukris tend to outlast the sheaths etc several times over would say that at least part of the set is a replacement although the kukri is exactly the correct length for the sheath and a nice fit in the sheath
Blade measured in a straight line not on the curve measures about 28.5 cm and the wooden handle with brass ferrule and pommel about 12.5 cm
