~ Wilkinson Sword Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee Commemorative Sword ~
A sword/piece of memorabilia, created for Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee. The Golden Jubilee Commemorative Sword is based on the winning design from a competition initiated and funded by Wilkinson Sword at the London Guildhall University Sir John Cass Centre for Silversmithing and Jewellery. It was be hand crafted in strictly limited numbers, and each owner's name was recorded in the Wilkinson Sword archive. A special first edition version of the sword (crafted from solid gold encrusted with precious stones) was presented to Her Majesty.
The hallmarked sterling silver hilt (Hallmarked for London, WS Ltd., 2002) has 24 carat gold plating & is embellished with enamelled decorations and ornate patterned silver bands.
The sword has an attractive decorative polished stainless steel etched blade. Both sides have been etched with floral filigree comprising roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks, representing the four corners of the United Kingdom. The ricasso has the 'Wilkinson Sword' crossed swords and Crown. At the centre is the “ER” cipher. The reverse of the blade reads “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee 1952 – 2002” and has the limited number on the ricasso (this particular sword is numbered 51.).
The white leather scabbard, surmounted by silver gilt fluted columns, has a representation of three rearing horses in silver gilt (reflecting Her Majesty's love for horses) towards the throat. Three enamel rosettes of red, white and blue on a silver gilt base represent the colours of the union flag.
This commemorative sword is well presented in a dark blue box. The reverse of the lid is embossed on the lid in gold with 'Wilkinson Sword' and the crossed swords. The base of the box is a blue velvet base with an imprint for the sword.
The sword and scabbard originally retailed at £1645.

The blade has a length of 23.5 inches (59.7 cm), the sword measuring 30.5 inches (77.4 cm) long, 31.5 inches (80 cm) long when in scabbard.
The box has a length of 36 inches (91.4 cm), a depth of 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) & a height of 2.5 inches (6.4 cm).
The set weighs 4.6 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The silver has become a little tarnished but the sword & case are in excellent condition.
