~ WW1 British 1915 Dated Pattern 1907 Enfield No1 Rifle Bayonet And Scabbard ~
This is a Pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Lee-Enfield rifle no1, better known as the SMLE.
The stamps on the ricasso show the pattern 1907, the manufacturing date 7 '15 (July 1915) and Sanderson (the stamp is not clear) as the manufacturer.
The opposite side shows the Enfield inspection marks, the broad arrow and the bend test mark.
The scabbard is serial numbered on the locket ‘2nd M.D.’ (Australian 2nd Military District ) and serial number ‘72317’.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 17 inches (43 cm) and the bayonet and scabbard length is 22.25 inches (58 cm).
It weighs 700 grams.
~ Condition ~
The bayonet is in excellent condition for its age.
The blade is clean, rust free, with only one minor nick towards the tip.
The wooden grips are complete and the catch works as intended.
The scabbard is excellent as well with minimum ageing.
