~ WW1 German 1916 Dated Mauser M1898/05 Butcher’s Bayonet ~
The bayonet is complete with its original steel scabbard and leather frog.
The blade is stamped with the manufacturer’s name ‘STAHLBLUME’, its logo and ‘FRED SCHLEUTERMANN REMSCHEID-HASTEN’.
The edge of the ricasso is stamped with the manufacturing year ‘16’ beneath the crown and a proof mark.
The scabbard is made of black painted steel.
This is a rare, highly collectable piece.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 14.55 inches (37.5 cm) and the overall length of the bayonet is 19.75 inches (50.5 cm).
The bayonet in its scabbard length is 21 inches (53.5 cm).
It weighs 975 grams.
~ Condition ~
The blade is in good condition with minor surface rust and heavy traces of grease.
The safety catch button works fine.
The grips are fine with one stain of white paint on one side.
The scabbard has some colour loss and one dent on the reverse.
The leather frog aged and has a white paint stain on its reverse, as seen in the pictures.
