~ WW1 German Trench Art Portrait Frame ~
This is a war time trench art picture frame manufactured by one of the German soldiers of the Imperial guard.
The frame is made by several components. On the top can be seen the imperial crown and a star with the Kaiser’s bust picture in the middle, presenting him in dress uniform.
The main tin frame is reinforced with three cartridges on each side and on the lower end the badge of the 173 Guards Regiment was attached.
The main picture is a postcard crop from the era presenting the Kaiser in field uniform.
Underneath this picture there is another one, probably the original picture of the frame (printed on a thick cardboard) depicting a young Prussian cavalry enlisted man wearing a cavalry pickelhaube helmet with, what seems to be, the guards star badge on the front.

The overall frame height is 7.5 inches (19 cm) and its width is 4 inches (10 cm).
