~ WW2 Era First Model German Luftwaffe Dagger ~
The handle of dagger is covered in dark blue leather & a diagonal spiral running from top left to bottom right.
The pommel consists of a round shape with a sun wheel swastika inlaid at the centre. Both sides of the pommel display this organisational insignia.
The blade was of double edge stiletto type construction. It has been stamped with a SMF - Solingen manufacturer stamp.
The scabbard is of metal construction. It is covered with dark blue leather. Metal fittings are found at the throat, mid-section and tip. The throat and midsection have suspension rings with the hanger that is permanently attached to the suspension rings located near the throat and at the midpoint of the scabbard. A clip is found at the end of the hangers. The clip is stamped with what appears to be “OLC – GES GESONI”.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade has a length of 12 inches (30.4 cm). The dagger has a full length of 17.5 inches (44.4 cm), 19 inches (48.3 cm) when placed in scabbard. It weighs 595 g.
~ Condition ~
There is general wear to most of the metal work, including a few scratches and minor loss of enamel . A few deep scratches & dents to the pommel. The blade is fairly scratched but clean.
