~ WW2 German Kriegsmarine M-1902 Pith Tropical Helmet ~
This is an original German Kriegsmarine Pith Helmet with the expected green interior. The tally is modern.
The badges are original and this is how the helmet came to me from the serving KM owner (see below) though the shield is of the ribbed Army type. He served aboard the Admiral Scheer so this might relate to the time of her first major cruise to Madeira or duties in the Spanish Civil war.
The interior does not have any markings apart from an ink '20'.
~ Provenance ~
This cap was sourced from the son of a known serving Kriegsmarine sailor and is part of a much larger collection of his artefacts which we have acquired. The original owner later served in U-Boats and was captured towards the end of WW2. Details will be provided to the purchaser.
~ Condition ~
The piece is structurally sound and complete. There are both mildew and sweat stains to the fabric. The green interior liner is very faded.
~ Dimensions ~
The cap is 13.5 inches (35cm) in length, 10.25 inches (26cm) in width and 6 inches (15cm) tall.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £18 or the cap can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
