The cap is dark grey wool with white piping to the crown and bordering the central band. The enamel red cross insignia & cockade are attached to the front. The original patent leather chinstrap is supported by two side buttons. The interior of the cap has the original leather sweatband which has been hand marked with the name ‘PERETZ’, the interior lining still retaining the celluloid diamond but the manufacturers details are worn away.

The cap has a diameter of 10 inches (27.9 cm) & an inner diameter of 7 inches (17.7 cm). It has a height of 6 inches (15.2 cm) & weighs 192 g.

The exterior cap is in excellent condition. There is some minor scuffing to the leather peak but the cap remains in otherwise good order. The interior lining has some service wearing, the celluloid diamond is cracked & a significant ink stain can be seen to the interior.
