WW2 GURKHA KUKRI WITH SHEATH & 1937 PATTERN WEBBING BELT ATTACHMENT
An interesting WW2 Gurkha Kukri with blade stamped "TEMPERED STEEL MADE IN INDIA"
Overall nice condition.
This is a quality manufactured kukri that made in WW2 for private purchase often by British Personnel.
There is a nice photo on the internet of a shop in India with a British Soldier customer with numerous kukris on a wall for sale, presumably both new and used, and there is one of this pattern of kukri for sale.
This has a "Been There" appearance with numerous small abrasion marks to the surface finish on the leather covered sheath. Also the top section has had a khaki webbing repair where obviously the repeated drawing and sheathing of the kukri has caused some wear to the top of the leather cover to the wood sheath.
This is a heavier large pattern of military kukri, the blade measured in a straight line ( not on the curve ) is about cm long.
There is a detachable "C" hooks 1937 belt attachment with a large brass buckle made from various 1937 pattern webbing...this is not original to the kukri and would say that this has been added as a later addition at some period.period.
Some slight rust staining to the blade and the edge has marks where it has been sharpened but an interEsting and attractive kukri in overall nice condition.
You must be at least 18 years of age to buy this item.
