~ WW2 Japanese Katana Sword With Scabbard, 1941, Signed ~
This is a beautifully decorated sword with an outstanding well handmade gendaito blade in its original polish. The nakago is signed in Japanese for Kanefusa Saku Kore and punched with one hole.
See page 39 of John Slough?s book on modern Japanese sword smiths. This is the 23rd generation Kanefusa and is highly rated at 1 million Yen.
The tang has no arsenal stamps.
Kanefusa is known to have made traditional swords during and after the war. His real name was Kato Koichi and he was born in 1900. His son was also a sword smith and his grandson is currently a sword smith in Japan.
The sword comes with its original brown painted metal scabbard with decorative mountings.

The sword measures 36 inches (91.5cm) in length with the blade measuring 25.5 inches (65cm).
The scabbard is 28.5 inches (72.5cm) long.
The total weight is 1.68 kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in very good condition with clear markings to the nakago, excellent blade and very well made grip wrapping.
The scabbard is slightly worn with few small dents and some paint loss areas.
