~ A WW2 Japanese Old Blade Naval Katana ~
The katana has an old blade with two holes to the tang. The tang is not named or stamped. The scabbard uses a blackened Samekawa (Rayskin).
The surrender paper is present:
"Headquaters Eigth Army United States Army
Office Of The Provost Marshal APO 43.....
Permit 48 20th Sept 1945
In Accordance with section i, AFPAC circular No 58 dated 4th Sept 1945, Captain _ is authorised to have in his possession one Japanese sword as a souvenir, upon his departure from Japan.
C.V. Cadwell, Colonel, CMF, Provost Marshal."
~ Dimension ~
The blade has a length of 27 inches (68.5cm). With the tang, the sword measures 34 inches (86.5cm). It has an overall length of 37 inches (94cm).
~ Condition ~
The blade has some scratching and wear but is in a nice clean condition. The scabbard has some minor wear but remains in a excellent condition. The surrender paper has some paper wear. It has split into three pieces with a few tears and holes on each piece.
