WW2 PATTERN CHINDIT INDIAN WRIST DAGGER WITH WEBBING SHEATH & 1944 PATTERN BUCKLES
Overall nice condition.
Staghorn wrist dagger of the type usually referred to as the WW2 Chndit Indian Wrist Dagger, but is also the type of dagger used by SOE.
The WW2 Chindit Indian Wrist was based on an ancient Indian dagger and made for the Chidits in WW2, In dense jungle the Chindits could suddenly come upon the a Japanese patrol without warning and the dagger was strapped to the outside back of the wrist for instant use. Staghorn was used for the grip as it provided a much better grip for constantly wet hands.
5cm long bowie blade with brass guard, with an unusually long curved staghorn handle, probably for better grip, the knife has an overall length of cm measured in a straight line .
A nice quality knife in a professionally made jungle green webbing sheath with 1944 pattern webbing buckles.
We would say that this has been made at some post WW2 period, had we any WW2 provenance, we would have quadrupled the price!
Would make a super item to go with any WW2 Chindit / SOE display.
