~ WWII German Fire Fighter Dress Bayonet ~
The bayonet has black plastic handles with a heavy chequered pattern held together via the use of two rivets. The pommel is of chromed metal & is shaped like the beak of an eagle. There is no spring loaded button because the bayonet cannot be attached to a rifle.
The handguard is also chromed. One side curves up while the other curves down.
The scabbard is painted black & is of metal construction. Like the combat version it has a large hook that provides an anchor point from where the leather frog can be secured.
The blade is fully chromed & of single edge design. The ricasso is stamped with the makers stamp “E PACK & SOHNE SOLINGEN”.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade has a length of 10 inches (25.4 cm), the bayonet has a total length of 14.5 inches (36.8 cm), 15.5 inches (39.4 cm) when in scabbard. It weighs 540 g.
~ Condition ~
The metal scabbard is largely rusted. The chromed metal has started to fade & degrade. The plastic grip remains in good order. The blade has some light surface wear, such as scratching and other age wear but largely in good condition, and it remains clean.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £18 or the dagger can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
