The MG 42 (Maschinengewehr 42, or Machine Gun 42) general purpose machine gun was used extensively by the German Army & Axis forces in WW2. Post WW2 Yugoslavia license-built the MG 42 at the state-owned Zavodi Crvena Zastava company as the M53 machine gun, retaining the 7.92×57mm Mauser calibre. By doing so, the Yugoslavians retained the original weapon's design features, making the M53 a nearly exact copy of the German MG 42. This is an excellent original example of the Yugoslavian M53. It has all original metal work, wood stock and ribbed pistol grip. It is complete with original bi pod and flip up sights. The frame is crisply marked by with 'M53' (designation) together with crest, & numerous script and numbers including the butt. The weapon strips, cocks and dry fires perfectly.
