WW1 Era Austrian Steyr Mannlicher Model 1895/ M95 8mm Calibre Straight Pull Bolt Action Rifle With Steyr M95 Knife Bayonet & Scabbard. Sn 10923:12 - 10923:12

The Repeating Rifle Model M1895, better known as the Mannlicher M1895 rifle is a bolt-action rifle, designed by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher. The M1895 is unusual in employing a straight-pull bolt action, as opposed to the more common rotating bolt-handle of other rifles. It was consequently renowned for combining a high rate of fire (around 30–35 rounds per minute) with reliability and sturdiness. This is an original M95 Steyr straight pull bolt Rifle. These weapons were used throughout WW1 and into the 1930’3. When the Nazi's came to power many M1895 rifles and carbines were given to Bulgarian Units. The wood furniture of this weapon is in good condition as is the metal work which has a nice patina throughout. The stock has a contemporary armoury repair near to the butt plate which is only visible on close inspection. The breech is stamped ‘Steyr M.95’. It has bayonet bar/ lug, sling swivels, steel butt plate, block and blade fore sight and ladder rear sight. It strips, cocks and dry fires perfectly. The weapon is complete with an original M.95 bayonet. The bayonet has a 10" single edged blade with fuller. The clean blade is marked at the ricasso with the combined 'OEWG' (Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft 'Austrian Arms-Manufacturing Company') Steyr mark. The reverse is stamped with rampant Lion mark. It's steel cross guard is stamped 'D 6479'. It's slab wood grips are undamaged and the pommel's steel push button release catch functions perfectly. The bayonet has it's original steel scabbard with frog bar. The scabbard has no dents. Price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery. Sn 10923:12
