NOT FOR SALE - The sale of this item has been temporarily suspended until it will be deactivated further to the new EU/UK Deactivation Standards ~ A new-specification deactivated M1918 A2 B.A.R. (Browning Automatic Rifle) ~

It was de-activated in 1997 (20/8/97), is stamped with proof marks as such, and comes with its de-activation certificate.

The top of the receiver is stamped :-

    "BROWNING AUTOMATIC RIFLE
    U.S.CAL.30 M 1918 A2
    MAN'F'D BY N.F.SMALL ARMS CORP
    - Phone number removed -
    PATENT APPLIED FOR"

The bipod functions, and the gun can still be cocked and dry fired.

In the near future, the proofing houses will be treating BAR's as automatic weapons, not LMG's or rifles. Consequently we expect these cockable examples to shoot (pardon the pun...) up in value.

This is one of 2 I have currently listed.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The barrel has a length of 24 inches (61cm), with the gun having an overall length of 48 inches (122cm). It weighs 7.53kg.

    ~ Condition ~

The gun is in very good condition with only some minor wear, such as scratching and surface wear to the barrel and to the stock.

    ~ B. A.R. ~

The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) was a family of United States automatic rifles (or machine rifles) and light machine guns used by the United States and numerous other countries during the 20th century. The primary variant of the BAR series was the M1918, chambered for the .30-06 Springfield rifle cartridge and designed by John Browning in 1917 for the U.S. Expeditionary Corps in Europe as a replacement for the French-made Chauchat and M1909 Benet-Mercie machine guns. The BAR was designed to be carried by advancing infantrymen, slung over the shoulder or fired from the hip, a concept called "walking fire"?thought to be necessary for the individual soldier during trench warfare.

    ~ Postage ~

UK postage is £14 or the item can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
