BladesSwords!!! SOLD !! Circa 1780’s Georgian Infantry Officers Pre Regulation Sabre
!!!SOLD !!! ~ Circa 1780’s Georgian Infantry Officers Pre Regulation Sabre ~
A beautiful and unique officers sword from the Georgian period that appears to be inspired by the 1788 Pattern Sword.
The style and form of this sword puts me in mind of the flank officers swords of the Napoleonic wars (of which this may be one), carried by officers who were more likely to get into melee combat.
This sword is of a type I have never seen before, with a reinforced bronze (with traces of gilt) guard that has a sidering reinforced in a way I’ve never seen before. The blade is slightly curved with a hatchet point and a deep fuller, there appears to be a makers mark hidden under the guard. The grip is also in incredible shape with a beautiful bone grip and wire wrap.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 35 inches (89 cm) long.
The blade is 30 inches long (77 cm) long.
The sword weighs 755g.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in excellent condition for its age with some minor pitting and a single chip to the grip.
