This is a single edge/double edge at the tip, fullered sword with a brass double shell guard and urn shaped pommel.
The grip is made of wood which was generally wired, but for practical reasons some officers prefer them unwired, as is the case here.
This sword pattern was used extensively in the early stages of the Napoleonic Wars.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 30 inches (76.4 cm) and the overall length of the sword is 36.5 inches (92.7 cm).
It weighs 650 grams.
~ Condition ~
Considering its age the sword is good.
The blade had developed some amount of pitting but it is rust free.
The tip is slightly bent.
The brass fittings of the sword have lost their gilding and the steel hand guard tang is slightly bent.
