An excellent example of a fleet air arm 1827 pattern sword with gilt fittings, sword belt, sword bag and sword knot.
The folding guard is etched J. Ford R.N..
It was prior owned, by repute, a Swordfish pilot, based on HMS Illustrious during WW2. He took part in the Taranto raid, where half the Italian fleet was sunk during 11th of November 1940. He retired from the Royal Navy as a Lieutenant Command.
The blade is not etched.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 36 inches (93cm) in length with a 31.5 inch (80cm) blade.
The entire set weighs 1.8 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in excellent order with a clean blade and bright gilt fittings. The grip is fine, the sword knot a little dulled with age. The scabbard is tidy too.
The leather sword bag is in great order, still supple and excellent stitching.
The sword belt is in matching condition.
