~ 1840’s Complete East India Company Infantry Officers Sabre ~
Here we have an absolute gem from my own collection of HEIC swords that I am putting up for sale.
This is an extremely nice complete sword from the 1840’s following the pattern of swords used in the British Army at the time. This sword can luckily be dated rather accurately since it has a post 1845 fullered blade and a pre 1854 (or thereabouts) putting it down to within ten years and making it a sword that would have been carried by an officer serving in the HEIC military during one of the most tumultuous times in British Indian history culminating in the Indian Mutiny.
The sword is interesting in that it is a rare complete example with its scabbard, most of its gilt (I’d estimate over 90%), it has its original leather sword knot and scarcest it has its leather liner that is used to prevent the knuckles rubbing against the inside of the guard.
~ Condition ~
Overall this is one of the best EIC swords I have seen with beautiful crisp engravings with the EIC lion and the VR cipher and just some spots of ageing.
