Description

1847-1850 English Frederick Barnes Tower London .750 Musket Calibre Percussion Belt Pistol. Sn 18802 - 18802

Frederick Barnes the English London based Gunmaker is recorded at Tower Hill between 1847 & 1850. The company then became Frederick Barnes & Co and are recorded at 3 Union Row, 109 Fenchurch Street and 67 Minories 1851-to 1866. Between 1857-1904 they are recorded at 109 Fenchurch Street only (see page 140 of British Gunmakers Vol.1 ‘by Brown). This is a percussion belt pistol by Frederick Barnes London. It measures 15" overall and has a 9"barrel. The smooth bore has staining consistent with age. It has a plain action plate which has areas of age related pitting but no rust. The action plate is signed Fredc Barnes Tower Hill London. It has a heavy military hammer, brass trigger guard with extended tang and ram rod flute. Its steel ram rod has a brass end cap. The dark walnut full stock has just light bumps and bruises to be expected. The pistol is complete with its steel belt bar fitted to the left side of the weapon. It's action works as it should. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 18802
