This is an 1850’s derringer type single shot pistol made by the Manhattan MPG of New York.
The pistol is a .32 calibre rifled percussion piece.
The hammer is stamped on the left side with the manufacturer’s name.
The metalwork is decorated with intricate foliage.
The barrel seems to screw in place but we didn’t force it open.
The body is attached together by two screws, one holding the grips together and the other the lock plate.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel is 2 inches (5cm) and the overall length of the piece is 4 ¾ inches (12 cm).
It weighs 160 grams.
~ Condition ~
The piece remains in good working order with some age darkening on the metalwork and few chips on the wooden grips.
