~ 1855 Pattern Lancaster Sword Bayonet ~
A 1855 Pattern bayonet issued for use with the Lancaster Artillery Carbine.
The blade is long and straight swelling out from the back edge towards the point. The blade is single edged with a pipe back. There are several proof marks on the ricasso.
This sword bayonet is finished with a brass hilt and grips of a checkered leather. The cross guard is marked "68 43".
~ Dimensions ~
This bayonet measures 29 inches (74cm) in total with the blade measuring 24 inches (64cm). This bayonet weighs 715g.
~ Condition ~
This bayonet is decent antique condition. The blade has darkened with age but is clean with only light surface pitting The edge is good.
The brass hilt has dulled with age and use. The grips are in a good state with some wear.
