~ 1883-4 Victorian Hunting Dagger with Silver Mounts ~
This is Victorian dagger fitted with highly decorated silver mounts. It comes with its red leather scabbard with silver fittings.
Apart from the blade all its other metal components are made of silver marked ‘Sterling, Sheffield, 1883-4’.
The grip is made of bone.
The silver pommel depicts a bull head in relief.
The silver components of the scabbard are also marked, but due to its age the markings are not very clear.
The leather scabbard is decorated with an animal foot fingerprints pattern.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade is 11 ½ inches (29 cm) long and the overall length of the dagger is 16 inches (40.5 cm).
The overall length of the dagger in its scabbard is 16 ½ inches (42 cm).
It weighs 255 grams.
~ Condition ~
The dagger is in excellent condition for its age with some signs of use.
The pommel has a minor dent on one side.
The blade darkened but remains clean and undamaged.
