Here we have a very nice and attractive Lee Metford Bayonet of the type carried by Canadian and British soldiers in the Boer War.
This is a very practical fighting bayonet as it has a dagger blade and a very comfortable grip to hold.
This is the Mark 1 Type 2 with its two brass pins central to the grip.
This bayonet was manufactured in April of 1897 by Sanderson of Sheffield.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade is 12 inches (30 cm) long.
The bayonet is 16.75 inches (42.5 cm) long.
The bayonet weighs 445g.
~ Condition ~
The bayonet is in a good condition for its age with a good portion of its original finish still there with some minor surface rust tot the base of the blade and the fittings.
The etched markings are in good condition.
The wooden grip has a nice aged finish and has a few cosmetic scuffs.
