BladesBayonets1903-1905 Type 45 Siamese Bayonet For The 1903 Mauser #1
~ 1903-1905 Type 45 Siamese Bayonet For The 1903 Mauser #1 ~
Here we have a very interesting bayonet, one of two we have in our inventory, originating from the Kingdom of Siam and manufactured between 1903 and 1908 at the Imperial Japanese Army Arsenal in Tokyo. Due to this we have a very interesting bayonet, a Siamese bayonet manufactured in Japan for a German Rifle so it has influences from all three nations.
This bayonet has all the features of the traditional German Mauser, it has the scale attachment of the Japanese bayonet and the indent that allows the scabbard to be on the bayonet when attached to the rifle.
Overall the bayonet is a delightful piece of South East Asian military history at the time when the local armies modernised at an alarming rate.
This appears to be the dress bayonet worn by the equivalent of the guards regiment of the Siamese army with its mirror polished scabbard.
The bayonets are marked in Siamese script on the ricasso of the bayonet and on the catch.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade is 10 inches (25.5 cm) long.
The bayonet is 15.5 inches (39.5 cm) long.
The bayonet weighs 500g.
~ Condition ~
This is the better of the Siamese bayonets we have in the inventory with an almost mirror polish on the scabbard, a brilliant condition blade and a set of grip scales with a nice aged finish to the wood.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £15 or it can be inspected in our shop.
