~ 19th Century Cased 12 Bore Percussion Pistol By Wilson ~
The belt hook percussion pistol (a flintlock conversion) comes with accessories including a percussion cap tin box, lead balls, ball mold, powder flask and a ball measuring gauge in a later case.
The pistol has a sighted octagonal steel barrel, engraved fittings and an oval silver escutcheon plate with an engraved monogram.
The walnut stock with a rounded, chequered sack butt was horn fittings to the fore.
The lock plate is engraved with the maker's name 'Wilson'.
The faux label on the box reads 'Edward Whistler, Gun & Pistol Repository, 11 Strand Trafalgar Square'.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel length is 12 cm (4.8 inches) and the overall length of the pistol is 27 cm (10.6 inches).
The box is 47 cm (18.5 inches) long, 17.8 cm (7 inches) deep and 7 cm (2.8 inches) tall.
The box, pistol and accessories weigh 2.8 Kg in total.
~ Condition ~
The set is in fair condition with the expected signs of wear. The wooden frame of the pistol is very good, except for minor bruising.
The barrel and the metal fittings have some minor surface wear.
The safety works as it should but its inner clamping bolt is damaged or missing, so the safety comes out.
The accessories are in good condition.
The box is solid but needs some attention to the inside, as seen in the pictures.
