On Auction : Less common variant of famous german cavalry sword pattern 89 - Bayern Kavallerie Extradegen (KD) 89, designed for cavalry units of the Kingdom of Bavaria. The blade (marked Alexander Coppel, Solingen) is etched on both sides with the inscription "In Treue fest" (the motto of the Bavarian kingdom), framed by a floral ornament. Hilt with (partly) folding guard with the Bavarian coat of arms, which is held by a heraldic lion armed with a sword; bakelite grip. No scabbard. Turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the German Empire (Kingdom of Bavaria). Good condition, some traces of surface corrosion on the blade.
