~ 19th Century Large Indopersian White Metal Embossed Cow Horn Flask ~
Here we have a large cow horn flask if Indian or possibly Arab origin, these were carried along with firearms made by cottage gunsmiths, most commonly long pistols and jezails and later on the copies or issued variants of European firearms.
This is a rather simply made flask compared to some of the carefully graduated ones made at the time but it has been made and decorated lovingly as well as obviously seeing some use.
It has been decorated with white metal and copper scrollwork hammered out of sheet metal, a geometric pattern carved into the horn, given a brass base, finely worked suspension mounts and a detachable stopper.
~ Dimensions ~
The flask is 13 inches (33 cm) tall.
The flask is 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide.
The flask weighs 1.22Kg.
~ Condition ~
The flask is in a good condition for its age without any damage to the horn or metalworking.
