On Auction : Royal Saxon Infantry officer’s sword, engraved with the royal acceptance mark and purveyor to the court. As well as the ‘Eisenhower’ guarantee of quality. The blade has a beautiful, smooth and patinated texture, age-related blemishes towards the ricasso. Lenticular blade with a triple fuller on both sides, the blade has an incredible residual sharpness, it is very sharp. Beautiful, openworked brass hilt with the Saxon coat of arms held by lions. Handle covered with fish skin and triple copper wire wrap, in quite a good, used condition. Pronounced, oval pommel surrounded by a laurel wreath, also worth mentioning is that the inside of the guard plate has also been worked in great detail.An infantry sword that has probably seen great service in the wars at the end of the 19th century.Not shipped outside the European Union....Read full description
