A fine pair of 54 bore silver mounted English Queen Anne style flintlock box-lock pistols by Ketland & Co London. These pistols are silver mounted and have 4 British silver hallmarks stamped on each grotesque silver butt-mask. Ketland & co had a workshop at Canon street in London circa 1785-1790. The frames are engraved with the gunmaker's name KETLAND & CO. 3.25 inch screw-off cannon barrels with lugs for the barrel key. The walnut grips are inlaid with decorative silver wire and oval silver escutcheons engraved G.W. inlaid to the rear of each grip. The pistols are both stamped with crown over V and crown over P proof marks to the under side of each breech. Good condition and working order. Overall length 9 inches. Ref 9938.
