Description

A George V 1827 Pattern Naval Officers Sword By Gieves In Leather And Brass Scabbard

This sword was first introduced to the Royal Navy in 1827 and has been standard issue throughout a multitude of conflicts since. It is still the regulation pattern sword to this day.

A Geo V R. Naval officer’s sword, very slightly curved, fullered blade 41″, by “Gieves, Portsmouth, London, Edinburgh”, etched (faint) with crowned R Arms on one side and crossed fouled anchors on the other, all in roped, foliate panels, regulation solid half basket guard with crowned fouled anchor, turn down inner portion which locks to scabbard, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its engraved brass mounted leather scabbard with 2 rings.

A very nice example.

*Condition*

Basically GC, some minor pitting and no notable nicks to the blade. Some wear, guard a little mis-shapen.

The scabbard with a couple of minor dents to the tip.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £15, international at cost or it can be inspected in our shop.
