Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 1409. A rare Irish flintlock duelling pistol with unusual mounts, made by Dory of Mallow (CORK) Circa 1780 - 1800. The 10 inch octagonal barrel stamped at the breech with two proof marks and engraved on top with the makers name DORY MALLOW. The lock plate also engraved Dory. Fitted with a rear sight and engraved trigger guard. The mounts are made of Tutanag (a mixture of brass and copper that was used on mounts for flintlock pistols). Pierced side-plate. Two matching ramrod pipes, complete with an old steel ramrod. Finely rounded grip fitted with a matching Tutanag butt cap and escutcheon. Approx .65 calibre. Overall length 15.5 inches. In good well used condition overall, small piece of wood missing from fore-end (see photo) and a small crack in front of the lock-plate, some minor dings and blemishes to the woodwork. Please note; it is quite rare to find flintlock pistols fitted with mounts made from this unusual metal. Action in good working order. Ref 1409.
