Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 1815. A rare Napoleonic period French Cuirassier's light Cavalry sabre circa 1808-1815. A fabulous light cavalry sword of the Napoleonic period, this pattern sword was originally carried by the tall and fierce Cuirassiers of Napoléon's Grand Armee and was the same pattern light cavalry sword carried before and during the battle of Waterloo in June 1815. Complete in its original steel scabbard with two hanging rings. The hilt stamped on one bar with arsenal mark large K and a star (probably for Klingenthall). The 34.5 inch curved blade engraved to the back edge with a date (very faint but appears to be 1813). The grip wire is missing from the hilt but the leather covering appears to be original, slight damage to tip of scabbard, (see photo) otherwise in good well used condition. The grip still retaining the two brass ovals. Overall length in scabbard is 41 inches. Ref 1815.
